Stop whining, it's just another day in Southampton
People would celebrate the Chinese New Year in 10 minutes… it’s the year of rooster and it’s my baby’s year. While people are counting down...I am sitting here alone in front of my comp, got nothing to do except writing my blog. ^^ it's ok... I like it here in my room....
Excited??? Of course…. I want to celebrate it, but seriously I got no other Indonesian friends here. Even if there was a Chinese girl asking if I want to celebrate with other Chinese people…. But I don’t feel like it, because it is going to be awkward for sure. They would all speak Chinese and what I hear is all the ching chong China man walkie talkie. So honestly, even if I have Chinese blood and face, I can’t speak Chinese, I don’t have Chinese name and I don’t really fancy all the Chinese ritual except celebrating Chinese New Year.

Why?? Basically celebrating the Chinese New Year for me is about the little money that we get. You get the red envelop with money in it, from your relatives and family who are old enough or married. So, it’s a very nice celebration.
That’s why I really miss my life in Indonesia today; our family has oriental blood so that even if we don’t have our Chinese’s name and follow the culture, we never forget to celebrate this New Year with no any other strange and complicated rituals. In this time, I and my family always visit my dad oldest sister’s house, greet everyone in the family, mess around with all my little nieces, eat Ambonese food and also the most important part, receive some red envelops with a smiling face and then continued to visit my grandma from my mom’s family, again we never forget to eat some Chinese food before we leave and the red envelops.

So it’s always a never ending celebration every year, Which Chinese people say to enhance the togetherness and belongingness… I must admit it’s also true, by the end of the day the feeling that I get when everything over is happiness. Usually from my experience, Chinese New Year celebration is better than The New Year eve, because I can see all my family gathering in a very big family and everybody seems to be relax.
In here, I really want to celebrate it, if I were in Amsterdam; I would definitely eat dim sum with Tataaaaa, but too bad.... In Southamptoooon, I barely see any Chinese restaurants, so I told my self, “Just forget the Dim Sum, please me with some pancakes… at least feb 8th is the Pancake national day in UK.”
Hihihihi…..
To whom who have the chance to celebrate it…
URGHHH! I really envy you guys.
Don’t forget share me some small money.
